Windows includes a built-in screen Magnifier that makes text and on-screen items easier to read. Whether you need a quick zoom to read fine print or a permanent change to make everything a little larger, here’s how to get the most out of it.
Using the Magnifier with keyboard shortcuts
The fastest way to control the Magnifier is with a few keyboard shortcuts:
- Turn on and zoom in: Press Windows logo key + + (Plus).
- Zoom out: Press Windows logo key + − (Minus).
- Exit the Magnifier: Press Windows logo key + Esc.
Fine-tuning the Magnifier in Settings
You can adjust how the Magnifier behaves through the Settings app. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Magnifier. From there you can:
- Change the zoom increment (for example, 25% or 100% per step).
- Set the Magnifier to start automatically when you sign in to your PC.
Making text and items permanently larger
If you’d rather enlarge everything on your screen across the board, you can adjust the display scaling instead. Go to Settings > System > Display and set the Scale option to a higher percentage, such as 125% or 150%.
